Final Four Bound
The Braden River High School football team’s historic run continues at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 4 when the Pirates host defending state champion St. Thomas Aquinas in the Class 7A state semifinals.
Head over to Pirate Stadium and show your support for the only Manatee County football team still in contention. The winner will advance to the Class 7A state championship game Dec. 11, at the University of Central Florida.
2. FRIDAY, DEC. 4
Battle of top 5A teams
The Lakewood Ranch boys soccer team will travel to Riverview at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 4 in a key district contest between the top two teams in Class 5A-District 8.
Riverview holds the upper hand heading into the contest at 2-0-0 in the district standings while Lakewood is 2-0-1. A win and Lakewood would move up to first place and control its own destiny.
3. FRIDAY, DEC. 4 and SUNDAY, DEC. 6
A friendly competition?
The Premier Sports Campus at Lakewood Ranch hosts the Nike International Friendlies. The USA U-15 boys team face the Netherlands Dec. 4 and Brazil Dec. 6. in the annual year-end tournament, which feature players who will ultimately shoot for the U-17 World Cup. Both games kickoff at 6 p.m.
4. TUESDAY, DEC. 8
Mustangs open district slate
After a 3-0 start, the Lakewood Ranch High boys basketball team travels to Sarasota High for its Class 7A-District 11 opener at 7:30 p.m.
Lakewood Ranch is averaging 71 points a game this season while holding opponents to just 39 points through the first three games of the season.
