TRAVELING WALLET
12:09 p.m. — 5400 block of GMD
Found Property: A man told police he found a brown wallet in the bottom of his golf bag while cleaning out the bag. Police located the owner through a Harvard University identification card. He told police he has never been to Florida but lost his wallet in Canada awhile ago.

SAFE AND SOUND
3:39 a.m. — 4500 block of GMD
Public Service: A woman called to report that one of her two sons didn’t return home after going to Siesta Key earlier in the night. She called back a short time later to report he made it home.

CALL IT A NIGHT
8:22 p.m. — 6600 block of GMD
Suspicious Circumstance: A woman saw a driver pull into her neighbor’s garage but knew her neighbors were out of town. Police found a worker who was authorized by the property owners to handle pressure-washing and painting. He said he had permission to stay at the residence while he painted the inside of the home. The owner of the painting company told police none of his employees has permission to stay at homes and must be out by 10 p.m. The homeowner gave permission to work longer hours to get the job done on time but didn’t authorize an overnight stay.

HANG ONTO YOUR HAT
8:30 p.m. — 600 block of Cedar Court
Suspicious Circumstance: A woman found a strange hat in her second floor bathroom when she returned in the evening. Police learned the woman’s mother let a worker into the home to check a window, and it was his hat.

MYSTERY INTRUDER
1 a.m. — 6600 block of Gulfside Road
Suspicious Person: A couple was housesitting and reported hearing doors slam shut while they were lying in bed. When they got up to investigate, the woman reported seeing a man running south through the backyard. No footprints were found.
