Sarasota Christian holds on for win 

Three players scored in double figures as the Sarasota Christian boys basketball team beat Keswick Christian 57-45 Dec. 8. 

Jordan Litwiller finished with 18 points to lead the way for the Blazers. Brandon Bontrager added 13 points and Kyle Lantz contributed 10 points. 

With the win, Sarasota Christian improved to 5-1 on the season. 

 

Sarasota swimmers set records

Two Sarasota swimmers each established three age group records on the opening day of the 2015 Florida Senior Games Dec. 5, in Clearwater. 

Rudy Vazmina, who was swimming in the 65-69 age group for the first time, set records in the 50-and 100-yard breaststroke and 100 butterfly. 

Keefe Lodwig set a new record in the 500 freestyle by more than a minute. Lodwig, who earned All-American status for the University of Nebraska in the 1965-66 school year and was named the 2008 Cornhusker State Games Male Athlete of the Year, also set records in the 200 freestyle and 100 individual medley. 

 

+Booker girls post win 

The Booker High girls basketball team beat Sebring 41-29 Dec. 4. 

Arie Bass led the Lady Tornadoes with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Jer’myla Trebbles added eight points. 

With the win, Booker improved to 5-4 overall and 2-0 in the district. The Lady Tornadoes return to action Dec. 9, at Wauchula Hardee. 

+Thunder posts big win 

The Out-of-Door Academy boys basketball team topped St. Petersburg Canterbury School 70-39 in non-district action Dec. 7. 

Amad Brayboy and Kolbie Ward finished with 14 points a piece to lead the way for the Thunder. Chase Maasdorp added 13 points. Kendall Johnson recorded eight points, three steals and four assists. 

With the win, ODA improves to 5-1 on the season.
