Sarasota County deputies arrested a man and woman for trafficking methamphetamine out of a Siesta Key resort Dec. 15.

Officers found shards of methamphetamine and cash during a search of one suspect’s room at Sarasea Resort, on south Siesta Key. Yuri Stasiuk, 48, and Cristina Oriold, 42, to whom the room was registered, were both charged with one count of trafficking in methamphetamine. Oriold was also charged with possession of alprazolam and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Deputies seized just over a pound of methamphetamine from the suspects’ room, and $8,790 in cash.

Deputies obtained a search warrant for the room after using a confidential informant to purchase an ounce of methamphetamine from Stasiuk in his vehicle outside a Best Western at 6600 S. Tamiami Trail.

At the time of his arrest, Stasiuk was out on bond after being arrested with 2.3 pounds of methamphetamine in his possession.
