Henry Glatz, 79, of Longboat Key, died Dec. 10.

Born Aug. 12, 1936, in Haifa, Israel, Mr. Glatz was a veteran of the Israeli army and immigrated to the U.S. in 1958. He attended Boston University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of Southern California.

After a distinguished career as an aeronautical engineer, he co-founded Advanced Marine Enterprises, a naval architecture firm in Crystal City, Va. He retired in 1996 and moved from Potomac, Md. to Florida, where he pursued his passions of tennis, painting, the arts, family and friends.

Mr. Glatz is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rifka; children, Terry and Tammy; three grandchildren; and brother, Micha.

Funeral services were held Dec. 15, in Sarasota.
