The short film “Alike,” created by students in the Inspired Minds program, took top honors at the Miami International Science Fiction Film Festival shorts competition.
Carrie Dutting, student writer/director, also took home the Young Prodigy award.
Emily Watrobsky, who portrayed the character Anna in the film, handled interviews about the film.
“We are so proud of them and all of the cast and crew that created this film,” Inspired Minds’ leader Heather Manley says.
“Alike” tells the story of Jaime, whose mother sold her to Gemini Labs — a government program that clones people. Jaime, played by Dutting, questions the agency and its practices, and she must make a choice after meeting her clone.
“Alike” was filmed at Gene Witt Elementary School.
