Obituary: James Richard Allen

James Richard Allen, 79, of Longboat Key and formerly of Pittsburgh, died Feb. 10.

Born July 16, 1935, in McKeesport, Pa., Mr. Allen was a founding partner of National Development Corp., a real estate development, construction and management company based in Pittsburgh. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge, alumnus of the University of Pittsburgh and a proud supporter of the school’s athletic program and Katz Business School. He loved golf and was a former member of Churchill Valley Country Club and Longboat Key Club.

Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his daughter, Cynthia Lee Allen. He is survived by his wife, Virginia “Ginny”; daughter, Denice McDonough; son, Ron Allen; brother, William Allen; sister, Lois Keener; and seven grandchildren.

There will be no memorial service.
