Bigger, faster and more defensive was the impression the Lakewood Ranch High School girl's basketball team left on the Braden River High court.

The Lady Pirates lost 55-10 to the Lady Mustangs Jan. 8 at Braden River's home conference game.

Lakewood Ranch girls repeatedly demanded control of the game by preventing the home team from scoring any points until there was 1:45 left in the first quarter. The trend continued throughout the night.

Larissa LaBolt scored the first two of 10 total points for the Lady Pirates.

Top Lakewood Ranch High point scorers include Rachel Goff, Elise Spiller, Aleah Robinson and Kailyn Scully.

Lady Mustang Head Coach Tina Hadley attributes the win to strong defense and teamwork.

Next week, the Lakewood Ranch girl's varsity team will face off against North Port High School in a district game, Hadley said.
