… Well, we already knew that, right? Now apparently all of New York knows how wonderful our slice of paradise is too. It all started when Leonard Lauder, chairman emeritus of Estee Lauder Inc., chose to marry Judy Glickman in Sarasota rather than at his beachfront estate in Palm Beach, as expected (read more about the wedding in this week’s Black Tie & Tales column). NY Times and New York Social Diary reporter Geraldine Fabrikant was intrigued and visited Sarasota to see it for herself. She reported back to Northerners in the New York Social Diary about the history of Sarasota, including John Ringling as well as the Selby and Palmer families, its many famed celebrities such as Stephen King and Adrienne Vittadini and the arts scene including The Ringling and Perlman Music Program’s winter residency. Considering the great press this article gives Sarasota and the cold winter New York is experiencing, we’re predicting some full flights into SRQ from JFK and LaGuardia soon.
