Ironically, Carol Sawyer says that her collection of elephants has nothing to do with her position as president of the Republican Women’s Club of Sarasota but more so with her love of elephants. Sawyer estimates she has more than 50 elephants of all shapes and sizes in her collection. Every year, Sawyer’s collection grows with gifts from friends and family members who are well aware of her pachyderm fascination. At the monthly meeting for the Republican Women’s Club of Sarasota last week, her friend Mary Lindamood surprised her with a new addition that she had purchased at a church sale.
