Southside Elementary School students are safe follwing an unsubstantiated bomb threat Thursday afternoon.

Sarasota Police officers did not find anything suspicious during a sweep of the campus and ended an evacuation after 2:30 p.m.

Earlier: Students have been evacuated and accounted for at Southside Elementary School, which was the target of a bomb threat Thursday afternoon.

School officials received a call at 1:11 p.m. indicating there was an explosive device on campus, said Sarasota Police Department spokeswoman Genevieve Judge. Parents are strongly advised against attempting to pick up their students at this time.

Officers are currently on the scene investigating the threat, Judge said.
