Everything’s expired
12:07 a.m. — Intersection of Tuttle Avenue and University Parkway. Information Only. Police observed a car run a stop sign and pulled the car over. The car had no working license plate light and the tag was expired. The driver didn’t have a valid driver’s license because he hadn’t paid for several tickets. The tag was seized, the car was towed, and the driver received another ticket for driving with a suspended driver’s license.
Copper theft
2:06 p.m. — 9900 block of Carmoustie Place. Theft. Someone stole copper wire from a house that’s under construction.

Car robbery thwarted
2:15 a.m. — 6100 block of Exchange Way. Suspicious Circumstance. A man reported he saw two men trying to pry open the driver’s door of a vehicle before fleeing the scene. Police found pry marks on the car and couldn’t locate the suspects.

Suspect snagged
12:16 p.m. — 8300 block of Lockwood Ridge Road. Grand Theft. A shopper was picking up items and hiding them in a bag. Police detained him in the parking lot and took him into custody.

Missing funds
12:38 p.m. — 7300 block of Tara Preserve Lane. Theft. A country club employee reported someone stole more than $30,000 in country club funds that was uncovered after an operations audit was performed. The employee said she believes the former manager was responsible but she couldn’t provide documents showing any transactions made in employees’ names.

Ring removal
10:32 a.m. — 800 block of 148th Court Northeast. Theft. A woman reported the theft of a ring from the bathroom of a home she was visiting. She believes a flooring company that was working on the home could be responsible.
Bar trouble
11:21 a.m. — 3000 block of University Parkway. Trespass Warning. A bar manager reported an intoxicated customer was attempting to leave in his car. A waitress coaxed him back into the restaurant but he screamed and cursed at the bar staff. When police arrived, he agreed to take a cab home. He was trespassed from the property.
Caffeine fix
11:42 a.m. — 24400 block of State Road 64 East. Fraud. A woman reported that someone used her debit card information to make two unauthorized purchases at a Starbucks.
Scent of a thief
1:51 p.m. — 6200 block of State Road 64 East. Shoplifting. A man was observed placing several air fresheners into a bag with paid merchandise. Then he came back into the store and was caught trying to steal a candle off the shelf. He was arrested and transported to jail for stealing $33.22 worth of scents.
Resisting arrest
4:12 p.m. — 7700 block of 36th Lane East. Resisting Arrest. Police went to a woman’s house because there was an outstanding warrant for her arrest. She answered the door and when the officer attempted to detain her, she pulled away in an attempt to get back in her house. The officer grabbed her arms and placed her against a wall to restrain her while an officer handcuffed her. She tried to get away when officers tried to put her in a squad car, too. She was also charged with resisting arrest.
Inside job
4:24 p.m. — 8100 block of Lakewood Main Street. Battery. A suspect who was fired from a eatery went to the company’s other location to retrieve his last paycheck. The suspect entered the store from a back door, though, and attempted to open a drawer that held the money drop for that day’s sales. An employee got between the suspect and the drawer to thwart the theft. The suspect began pushing and threatening another employee who escorted him out of the eatery before he fled in his car.
Dressing drama
4:53 p.m. — 8100 block of Cooper Creek Boulevard. Criminal Mischief. A man showed up for work and was fired as soon as he arrived. In retaliation, he dumped two 3-gallon buckets of salad dressing on the floor, causing approximately $100 worth of damage.
Family fight
5:06 p.m. — 3100 block of 57th Avenue Circle East. Battery. A mother tried to stop her grown daughter from coming into the house after they had an argument. The argument became physical when they began to push each other. Both parties refused treatment, and the mother was transported to jail.
Child left alone
6:25 p.m. — 6200 block of State Road 64 East. Information Only. Several customers advised a drug store employee a young child had been left alone in a car parked in the parking lot. When she made an announcement over the loud speaker, a woman waiting for a prescription to be filled abruptly left the store and drove away with the child.
Animal accident
11:24 p.m. — 13500 block of Country Road 675. Information Only. Police found a horse that had been struck by a truck lying at the end of a driveway. The horse was in distress and having trouble breathing. The horse was euthanized at the scene. The owner was located and thanked the officers for quickly deciding the horse shouldn’t suffer any longer.
