Jan. 6
Three strikes
11:11 p.m. — 3400 block of GMD. Code Enforcement. Police warned a man and woman who were in violation of the town’s beach hours, alcohol and nudity ordinances.

Jan. 7
Fixer upper
5:36 p.m. — 600 block of Dream Island Road. Boat. A man asked a condo secretary when the association was going to fix the leaky roof on his back porch. He started yelling threats and profanities after she told him the upstairs tenants were responsible for repairs. The man told police the roof has been leaking for months, and he believes the association president refuses to fix it. He told police he has a bad temper and knows it gets the best of him sometimes.

Jan. 8
It isn’t crystal clear?
2:26 p.m. — 1600 block of GMD. Civil Disturbance. The property manager at the vacant Colony Beach & Tennis Resort filed a report after a man visited the property twice. The manager knows the visitor has a vested interest in the property but is unsure what his ownership role is.

Jan. 9
Thought crime
1:45 p.m. — 5400 block of GMD. Phone Call. A Longboat Key Town Commission candidate said he talked to a man who called from a restricted number for seven minutes about a letter to the editor he wrote for a local publication. The caller was upset about the candidate’s position on the Keystone Pipeline and said something to the effect of, “I know you are running for city councilman, and I will do whatever I can to make sure you do not get elected.” Police told the candidate no crime had been committed.

Jan. 12
Rest stop
1:57 p.m. — 4700 block of GMD. Public Service. A 92-year-old man who was standing in a bicycle lane with his walker told police he and his wife were walking to a shopping center and became separated. He said he just wanted to get lunch and got tired during the walk and was resting. Police located the man’s wife, who confirmed they got separated.
