Since it sprouted about two months ago, Lakewood Ranch Main Street’s first edible garden continues to grow.

The community is curious about the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee’s culinary students’ garden, which features more than 15 vegetables and spices.

Residents and Main Street shoppers who pass the garden, which lines the sidewalk in front of USF’s Culinary Innovation Lab, ask students inside the lab questions and tips to grow vegetables at home, said Juliette Ravinale, lab assistant manager.

USF’s College of Hospitality and Technology Leadership students use the ingredients to prepare recipes in the lab.
