Loitering/Suspicion — Narcotics: Officers received a report regarding a suspicious person. They located a man pacing back and forth in the area and made contact with him. The man said he had acquired some drugs but didn’t pay for them, so he was worried that people were coming to get him. The man didn’t explain whom he acquired the drugs from when officers asked, and left the area on foot.
FRAMED
8:18 a.m. — 1900 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way
Civil Problem: A man reported that another man threatened to stab him while he was walking on the street. The other man said he never made the threats, and didn’t even own a knife. He said he was given a bicycle frame that had been abandoned in his friend’s backyard, put tires on the bike and began to use it. He said the man then began harassing him, stating that the bike frame was his father’s and that he wanted it back. He told the man he would remove the tires and give the frame back, but hadn’t had the chance to do it yet. The other man went to his house with officers, where he planned to return the bike frame. He was unable to remove the rusty bolts, so he decided to just give the bike to the man to end the dispute.
LET ’EM SLIDE
12:30 p.m. — 2000 block of Adams Lane
Juvenile Problem: A parent at a playground said she saw children in the park skateboarding down the slides. When an officer located three children holding skateboards in the park, they said they never rode them down the slides; they just had them at the end of the slides so nobody would walk away with the skateboards. Several other parents told the officer the person who made the report was out of line, and the children did nothing wrong. The officer told the children to be courteous when using the park. The boys agreed, and left the park to go skate.
