Girls Inc. welcomes new executive director

Girls Inc. of Sarasota County named Angie Stringer, a former employee, as its new executive director.

The former director, Robin Rose, is moving to St. Augustine to be closer to her husband after two years at Girls Inc.

Stringer has most recently served as director of major gifts at Children First in Sarasota and will begin her new position at Girls Inc. on Aug. 31. She has more than 20 years of experience in the nonprofit sector.

“Angie is a past Girls Inc. employee,” Girls Inc. Board President Jennifer Compton said in a news release. “She worked for Girls Inc. for four years, left eight years ago and is now coming home. We could not be more pleased to welcome her back at this important time as we embark on new growth initiatives. We know she is the right person to build upon the foundation laid and lead Girls Inc. to the next level as we continue to significantly impact the lives of young girls.”

Girls Inc. is a nonprofit that aims to help prepare young women to lead successful, independent, educated and healthy lives. On July 27, the organization will begin its 30-day campaign to raise $70,000, which will go toward scholarships. 

"I am honored to have been selected for this position by the Girls Inc. board of directors, whose level of dedication is remarkable," Stringer said.  "It's thrilling to be returning to an organization whose mission I hold very close to my heart. This is a very exciting time for Girls Inc.  We are poised to move our programs to the next level, and I'm excited to be providing the leadership for the dynamic team that will get us there."
