OBITUARY | ​Herbert Kellner

Herbert Kellner, 96, of Northbrook, Ill. and formerly of Longboat Key, died Jan. 21.

Born June 5, 1918, Mr. Kellner was a longtime resident of Longboat Key, moving there from the Chicago area in the late 1970s. He spent his summers in the mountains of Highlands, N.C.

Mr. Kellner was an avid tennis player and also enjoyed the cultural community of Sarasota, especially the West Coast Symphony Orchestra and the Sarasota Opera. He was also concerned about the politics of Longboat Key and attended many Town Commission meetings. He also served on the Public Interest Committee board.

Mr. Kellner moved back to Northbrook five years ago to be near his family.

He is survived by his daughter, Diana Geimer, of Phoenix; son, Mark Kellner, of Naples and Northbrook, Ill.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
