MONDAY, JULY 27

Summer Chef Jam  takes place from 7 to 9 p.m. at Shamrock Pub, 2257 Ringling Blvd. $25.

The Summer Chef Jam series, presented by Edible Sarasota and Chefs2U, continues at the Shamrock Pub.

This week’s featured chef is Steve Phelps of Indigenous, who will serve Key West pickled pink shrimp stuffed in cornbread paired with Big Top's Trapeze Monk Belgian-style wit, Thai fish cake sandwich with nori aoili paired with Fat Point's Big Boca California common steam beer and lentil meatball with Middle Eastern spiced tomato sauce paired with Motorworks' V-Twin Vienna lager.


TUESDAY, JULY 28

+ Open Jam and Dance Party — takes place at 7 p.m. at the Starlite Room, 1001 Cocoanut Ave. Free.

Looking for a place to jam? Every Tuesday, the Starlite Room provides a full array of Fender tube amps and a Casio Privia weighted keyboard for area musicians to come an jam or just listen and dance.

Grab dinner and a drink and enjoy some collaborative blues, soul, R&B and ’60s pop music.


WEDNESDAY, JULY 29

Young Guns of Countrytakes place at 6 p.m. at the Sarasota Opera House, 61 N. Pineapple Ave. Free.

Goodwill Manasota, in partnership with 106.5 CTQ, presents this show featuring some of country music’s hottest young acts, including Drake White, The Cadillac Three, Cassadee Pope and Sugarland’s Kristian Bush.

Show is free, but required tickets are available at the eight primary Goodwill Manasota retail locations while supplies last.


THURSDAY, JULY 30

Black Diamons Burlesque Peep Show — takes place at 8 p.m. at Libby's L-Bar, 1917 S. Osprey Ave. Free.

LDG Productions presents this Black Diamond Burlesque Peep Show.

Meet and mingle with your favorite Diamonds as they transport you to a true speakeasy experience. Offering a taste of the tease that Black Diamond offers in its full production, this elegant lounge is a perfect place to slip away from the summer heat and all your worries.


FRIDAY, JULY 31

Perq Summer Social — takes place at 6:30 p.m. at Perq Coffee Bar, 1821 Hillview St. Free.

Perq is staying open late.

Enjoy an after-hours experience at this Southside Village coffee bar at its second summer social. The night will feature live music by Nathanael Hyer and Kristopher James, tacos from Mouthole BBQ and a party atmosphere.


SATURDAY, AUG. 1

Fruitville Gecko's Anniversary Summer Bash — takes place at 4 p.m. at Gecko's Fruitville, 451 N. Cattlemen Road. Free.

Gecko's Grill and Pub is celebrating the first anniversary of its Fruitville location with a summer bash.

Event will feature live music by Russ Rhymer and Kettle of Fish as well as drink specials, a party atmosphere and more. Summer beach-wear encouraged for a special prize.


SUNDAY, AUG. 2

Trash Fish Dinner — takes place at 5:30 p.m. at Louie's Modern, 1289 N. Palm Ave. $125.

This second annual event, designed to promote sustainability and education in seafood, sold out in no time. But don't worry if you weren't lucky enough to snag a ticket.

Guests can still meet the chefs and have the chance to win one of four remaining tickets to the dinner at Saturday night's pre-party at Libby's L-Bar. Meet the chefs, try some light bites and learn about the cause.
