The Lakewood Ranch Business Alliance rallied to fight hunger in Manatee County, collecting more than $1,500 and 123 pounds of non-perishable food for the Food Bank of Manatee’s White Out Hunger summer program.

The initiative helps provide more than 14,000 children relying on the school district’s weekday program with food bags for the weekends.

Items were donated at the Alliance’s monthly July membership luncheon.

“Our community and members are so incredibly generous,” Alliance Executive Director Heather Kasten said. “We are thrilled to have had the opportunity to partner with such a solid organization like the Food Bank of Manatee. They are working hard for those in need within our community.”
