MONDAY, JUNE 1

Al Fuller's Blues Jam — takes place at 9 p.m. at the Five O'Clock Club, 1930 Hillview St. Free.

Blues fans, or anyone looking to unwind after a long Monday at work, can head to the Southside Village for Al Fuller’s regular blues night at the Five O’Clock Club.

Fuller and his band start out the night with some original tunes, then host an open-stage blues jam with many local musicians. Bring your instrument and join in.


TUESDAY, JUNE 2

Savor Sarasota Restaurant Week — takes place from June 1 to June 14 at various Sarasota restaurants. $15 to $29.

From June 1 through 14, more than 50 area restaurants will offer three-course lunch and dinner menus for $15 and $29, respectively.

So whether you’re a foodie on a budget, a habitual restaurant-hopper or just looking to feel fancy, the next two weeks is prime time to explore one of Sarasota’s other great resources: its high concentration of great restaurants.


WEDNESDAY, JUNE 3

Woody Sez takes place at 8 p.m. at the Asolo Repertory Theatre, 5555 N. Tamiami Trail. $22 to $61.

Woody Guthrie was America's original folk hero, whose songs celebrated the beauty of America, the people he met crisscrossing the nation, the history he absorbed and the social issues of his day.

He brought a free spirit to popular music and his impact still thrives today in many genres. This musical event features four actor-musicians performing 25 of Guthrie’s songs, using 15 instruments to celebrate his legacy.


THURSDAY, JUNE 4

JP Soars and the Red Hots — takes place at 8 p.m. at the Blue Rooster, 1525 4th St. $10. 

Winners of the 2009 International Blues Challenge and 2012 Blues Music Award nominees, JP Soars and the Red Hots is a blues act from Delray Beach that embodies a variety of influences.

Catch them this Thursday at the Blue Rooster, where you can enjoy food and hand crafted cocktails during the performance.


FRIDAY, JUNE 5

+ L Bar Grand Opening Mustache and Beard Bash — takes place at 9 p.m. at Libby's Cafe + Bar L Bar, 1917 Osprey Ave. Free.

Do you have a killer beard? Is your mustache waxed to perfection? Come show off your feats of facial hair at the grand opening of the Libby's Cafe + Bar L Bar. $500 cash prize each for best beard and best mustache.

Enjoy craft cocktails and a small menu in the vintage-inspired space while you judge for yourself — who has the mightiest beard of all?


SATURDAY, JUNE 6

Sarasota Rolling Renegades Roller Derby  — takes place at 6 p.m. at Stardust Skate Center, 2571 12th St. $12. 

Watch Sarasota's Rolling Renegades battle The Orlando Pscho City Straight Jackettes.

Beer and wine will be available for purchase. Bring a chair to sit track side, right next to the action. After-party to follow immediately at Sportz Landmark Bar & Grill.


SUNDAY, JUNE 7

Inspired Lunacy — takes place at 3 and 8 p.m. at Florida Studio Theatre, 1241 N. Palm Ave. $19 to $39.

This irreverent collection of witty, wacky and whimsical novelty songs scores these comic explorers as they set out to amuse, delight and figure out where humanity has gone wrong.

Features composers such as Allan Sherman, Monty Python and Kander and Ebb and songs like “Helium” and “Jolly Old Sigmund Freud.”
