Rosedale Golf & Country Club recently held its annual Birdie-A-Thon as a fundraiser for the Greater Sarasota Junior Golf Association.
The event included 54 holes of golf and 51 birdies, raising $2,572 for the non-profit organization. Rosedale head golf professional Mike Clayton, director of instruction Steve Whidden and assistant professionals Walter Messer III and Joe Robert all helped run the event.
“This is a great event that we look forward to all year,” Clayton says. “It’s definitely a bit of a challenge, considering the number of holes played and the pressure to get those birdies; but it’s a lot of fun and supports a very worthy cause. We are grateful for the generosity of our club members who support our efforts.”
The GSJGA aims to expose local children to the game of golf through various educational programs and competitive play for all skill levels. For more information, visit sarasotajuniorgolf.com.
