Obtaining Goods By Credit Card Fraud: Unknown individuals used a credit card to fraudulently purchase $6,044.94 worth of semi-truck tires.

7:59 p.m. — 5800 block of Ranch Lake Boulevard
Shoplifting: A man filled two shopping carts with Legos and left without paying. A store loss-prevention employee provided police with surveillance photos that showed him loading the items into a gray Ford Explorer. The stolen items were valued at $1,591.55.

10:26 p.m. — 3200 block of University Parkway
Suspicious Incident: A discount store manager was making his nightly deposit when an unknown person began sprinting toward his vehicle. A woman honked her horn, believing a robbery was about to occur, and the manager drove away. The suspect fled on foot. Police searched the area with K9 units but were unable to track the suspect. A robbery occurred at the same address in December under similar circumstances.

2:53 a.m. — 7400 block of 49th Avenue East
Information Only: Police responded to a report of a physical fight at a residence in which a woman was allegedly hitting a man. The caller said the woman left the area after the incident. Police found two men at the home who were dressed for bed and seemed confused when police told them why they were there. They said they had been engaged in horseplay earlier but said there was no fight. The woman returned and confirmed that the incident was only horseplay.

12:42 p.m. — 6500 block of Alpine Lane
Information Only: A woman was cleaning her home and found several items she believed her granddaughter, who was arrested previously for burglary, had stolen. The woman turned the items over to police.

3:19 a.m. — 7000 block of Creekwood Boulevard
Found Property: Police stopped a group of five juveniles in a vehicle at a park after hours. When police asked the driver why he appeared to be nervous and sweating, he admitted that they had alcohol and are under the legal drinking age. When the driver showed police the alcohol in the passenger seat, police noticed a marijuana bong. Police poured the alcohol into a Dumpster and confiscated the bong. The driver’s father had loaned his son his vehicle for the night and could not pick him up. Police contacted a woman who said the juveniles were spending the night at her house.

1:42 a.m. — 6700 block of Pirate Perch Trail
Runaways: A girl’s parents fell asleep while watching a movie and woke up to discover she had run away for the fourth time. She left a note telling them not to worry and that she would be home early.

1:01 p.m. — 1200 block of Osceola Boulevard
Motor Vehicle Theft: An unknown person stole a golf cart that was parked in front of the victim’s home and was not locked.

6:32 p.m. — 5600 block of 34th Court East
Information: A man reported that his girlfriend slapped him on his arm during an argument while he was driving. After examining a map, police determined that the incident occurred while the man was driving through Sarasota’s jurisdictional boundaries and notified the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office.

9 p.m. — 12900 block of Nightshade Place
Battery: A man who uses a cane to walk said that he was walking to his house from a grocery store when a neighborhood security guard asked him where he was going. The man said that when he told the guard he was walking home, the guard grabbed him by his arm and pulled him back, then got in front of him to stop him from continuing. The man told police he walked around the guard to his garage and has video of the incident. Police looked at the video and determined that it only showed the security guard driving up to the man’s house and ringing the doorbell. The man said he would check with his homeowners association to obtain more information.

9:13 a.m. — 11200 block of Beebalm Circle
Domestic Disturbance: A couple got an argument over money. The woman, who had just gotten home from work, was about to go to bed when the argument began. She was using her cellphone to record her husband, who took her phone. She used the house phone to call 911. Her husband agreed to give her phone back to her, and the woman went to bed.

8:18 a.m. — 9500 block of State Road 64 East
Theft: An unknown person had removed a laptop the month before from the computer lab at a middle school.
