Hail Dale releases two new tracks

Since the 2013 release of its debut EP, "Smoke It Off," Sarasota-based southern rock trio Hail Dale has been hard at work.

Over the course of the last two years, the band has played a steady stream of gigs (including one with Nashville, Tenn.'s Natural Child), released its own signature beer with JDub's Brewing Co. and developed a slew of new material — enough for a forthcoming full-length LP.

Today, the band released two new tracks from its new 11-track LP, "Honkey Kong."

Members Garrett Von Räd and Chris Flannagan, who share guitar, bass and vocal duties, and drummer David Cornicelli traveled to The Bomb Shelter recording studio in Nashville last month to track the LP with with analog sound engineer Andrija Tokic (Alabama Shakes, Benjamin Booker, Hurray For the Riff Raff).

No word yet on a release date, but these two mixed and mastered tracks should hold fans over in the meantime.

The first track, "Salvador," a favorite set-opener for the band, sets the tone for what's shaping up to be a high-energy album. A syncopated flurry of one-two punches opens the tune and paves the way for a chugging, dirty rhythm section in the verse, followed by extra-fuzzy lead guitar and a punchy, shouted chorus even the newest fan can sing along to.

On "Jacked Cadillac," Flannagan's jangly, rockabilly inspired riff complements a loose, swaggering beat by Cornicelli before breaking into a half-time chorus with a catchy walking bass line. But the final lyric, sung in a drawn-out twang, sums it all up: "I wanna steal your soul."
