Helene Greta Granet, 86, of Longboat Key and formerly of Cumberland, Md. died June 10.
Born May 25, 1929, in Cumberland, she was a 1946 graduate of Allegany High School and a 1950 graduate of Barnard College, where she earned a Phi Beta Kappa key with a degree in economics. Following college, she worked briefly for a New York City brokerage firm. She then returned to Cumberland, where she married Milton Granet. The couple had two children, Harriet and Michael.
Mrs. Granet returned to her career as a stockbroker and financial planner with Ferris, Baker Watts in 1968. She retired in 1984 and moved to Longboat Key.
Mrs. Granet is preceded in death by her husband, Milton and daughter, Harriet. She is survived by her son, Michael Granet, and brother, Harold Maxwell Hersch, of Chevy Chase, Md.
A graveside ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. June 19, at Eastview Cemetery in Cumberland.
