MONDAY, JUNE 22

Summer Chef Jam  takes place from 7 to 9 p.m. at Shamrock Pub, 2257 Ringling Blvd. $25.

It’s back. A summertime favorite among craft beer-lovers and foodies alike, the annual Summer Chef Jam series, presented by Edible Sarasota and Chefs2U, returns to the Shamrock Pub.

The nine-week event features nine different chefs, each offering three small plates paired with bottomless pints of local craft beer, plus a dessert from locals, Pop Craft Pops. This week's featured chef is Caleb Taylor, of Jack Dusty, who will prepare house-cured pork and a Swiss and fried egg sandwich paired with JDub's Poolside Kolsch, barbecue fried oysters with sunshine blue cheese dip paired with Darwin's Frauleis Unfiltered Bavarian Weissbier and Jack's rum caramel popcorn and Spanish peanuts paired with Darwin's Chirapa Spice Porter. 


TUESDAY, JUNE 23

+ Pleasures Tour Kick Off — takes place at 10:30 p.m. at Tavern on Main, 1507 Main St. Free. 

Sarasota based psychedelic noise-pop quartet, Pleasures, is preparing to embark on a summer tour and is kicking things off with a hometown show at Tavern on Main.

The band features Katherine Kelly, formerly of Sons of Hippies, on guitar and lead vocals, Greg Ferris on synthesizer, Morgan Soltes on bass and Mike Murphy on drums. Sarasota psychedelic dance act Gigglebytes will open.


WEDNESDAY, JUNE 24

Six Guitars — takes place at 7:30 p.m. at Florida Studio Theatre, 1241 N. Palm Ave. $32.

This unique performance blends music, comedy and impersonation as Chase Padgett embodies six different guitar players, each with their own distinct voice, views and musical style.

From blues to jazz, rock, classical, folk and country, Padgett plays it all. Have dinner in the cabaret, then stick around for the performance. Show runs through July 11 in the John C. Court Cabaret.


THURSDAY, JUNE 25

Cheers For Charity Guest Bartending —  takes place at from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., at Polo Grill and Bar, 10670 Boardwalk Loop, Bradenton. Free.

The Lakewood Ranch Community Fund's newest philanthropic giving circle, Cheers For Charity, hosts this patriotic celebrity bartending event just in time to get in the spirit for the Fourth of July.

There is no admission charge, but a $10 donation earns guests a chance to win a "booze bucket" grand prize. All funds raised will be matched by local community foundations and distributed to local charities.


FRIDAY, JUNE 26

MASHterparty  — takes place at 5 p.m. at Art Center Sarasota, 707 N. Tamiami Trail. Free.

Join Art Center Sarasota in celebrating its second annual MASHterpieces exhibit with a wrap party. The exhibit challenges 30 local artists to repurpose donated artwork from Goodwill Sarasota.

Check out the repurposed art, chow down at the mashed potato bar and maybe take home a piece for your wall at home. Works are for sale from $100 to $200, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit Goodwill.


SATURDAY, JUNE 27

+ Shrimp and Lobster Fest — takes place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Sarasota Farmers Market, at Lemon Avenue and State Street. 

This fifth annual event coincides with the downtown Sarasota Farmers Market and is the place to be for Sarasota's seafood-lovers.

Take refuge from the heat under the event's large tent, where you can purchase a wide variety of shrimp and lobster dishes, live music and the rest of the farmers market.


SUNDAY, JUNE 28

Sarasota Powerboat Grand Prix Car Show — takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 28, at Lakewood Ranch Main St. $15 in advance or $20 at the gate.

Celebrate the Sarasota Powerboat Grand Prix with this family friendly car show.

Head out to Lakewood Ranch Main Street to enjoy a display of cars of all types. Show will conclude with awards.
