Manatee Cal Ripken All-Stars win titles

A pair of Manatee Cal Ripken All-Star baseball teams won District 10 titles June 18 through June 21.

Manatee’s 10U All-Stars went 3-0, defeating Citrus Park (14-2), Englewood (12-2) and host North Tampa (14-4) before edging past North Tampa 3-2 in the championship game. The team will now move on to the 10U state tournament, which begins July 9, in Lakeland Highlands. 

The 11U All-Stars also went 4-0. Manatee beat North Tampa 7-6 in a come-from-behind win before cruising to wins over Lutz (13-0) and Citrus Park (14-0) before posting a no-hitter in its 12-0 victory against North Tampa in the championship game. 

Earlier in the month, Manatee’s 8U All-Stars went 3-0, in Ocala, to win their pool play rookie qualifier.
