Officials set to explain East County projects

Are you wondering what's new with the Fort Hamer Bridge and Upper Manatee River Road projects? Isn't construction supposed to start soon?

In hopes of educating East County residents on local projects, such as the Fort Hamer Bridge and Fort Hamer Road construction, the projects' staff will field questions at an informational meeting, to be held from 5 to 7 p.m. March 26, in the cafeteria of Carlos E. Haile Middle School.

The free session will address the nuts and bolts of the projects, on which officials expect to start construction within the next few months. Tonight's meeting won't feature a formal presentation, though, and attendees can arrive at any time within the two-hour window.

Improvements include a new two-lane bridge over the Manatee River connecting southbound Upper Manatee River Road to northbound Fort Hamer Road.
