MONDAY, MAY 4

+ May the 4th Be With You — takes place at 7:30 p.m. at World Of Beer, Sarasota, 8217 Tourist Center Drive. Free. 

Get nerdy and celebrate every Star Wars fan's favorite day: May the 4th at World Of Beer Sarasota.

The bar will screen "The Empire Strikes Back," on the back patio and will have storm trooper helmets for photo ops.


TUESDAY, MAY 5

+ Cinco de Mayo — takes place all day at Two Señoritas. 1355 Main St. Free.

Celebrate Mexican culture with this annual Two Señoritas party, which will feature drink specials on margaritas and various tequilas.

Sign up for the taco-eating contest for a chance to win up to $150 in cash prizes.


WEDNESDAY, MAY 6

Andrew Norelli — takes place at 7 p.m. at McCurdy's Comedy Theatre, 1923 Ringling Blvd. $15 to $18.

Norelli has appeared on programs such as “The Late Show with David Letterman,” "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” and “Jimmy Kimmel Live," as well as on Comedy Central's “Live at Gotham" and “Comics Unleashed."

He's a versatile comic known for his charisma and sharp material. Show runs through Sunday. 


THURSDAY, MAY 7

YPG After Hours — takes place at 5:30 p.m. at Kona Grill, 140 University Town Center Drive. $10, or free for members.

Come mingle with fellow young professionals at this  monthly networking event.

This month's after hours takes place at  the Mall at UTC's Kona Grill.


FRIDAY, MAY 8

+ American Pie — takes place  at 6 p.m. at Florida Studio Theatre, 1241 North Palm Ave. $34 to $36.

Enjoy this performance celebrating American music's response to the British Invasion.

Celebrate the music of artists such as Simon and Garfunkel and Bob Dylan, who paved the way for the next generation of musicians.


SATURDAY, MAY 9

+ BBQ, Brews and Brunch — takes place at noon at Darwin Brewing Co., 803 17th Ave. W., Bradenton. $10.

Support Darwin Brewing Co. brewer Mike Rogers, who is currently undergoing treatment for cancer, with a day of barbecue, beer and fun.

Festivities will include authentic Peruvian barbecue prepared by Chef Darwin Santa Maria, a cornhole tournament, lots of Florida brews and an opportunity to snag bottles and other cool items up for auction from supporting local brewers and breweries. All proceeds benefit Rogers. 


SUNDAY, MAY 10

Sarah Guthrie and Johnny Irion —  takes place at 7 p.m. at Fogartyville Community Media and Arts Center, 525 Kumquat Court. $12.

Sarah Lee Guthrie is the granddaughter of Woody Guthrie, and Johnny Irion is the grand nephew of author John Steinbeck.

Since marrying in 1999, Guthrie and Irion have released five albums together, including this year's "Wassaic Way." The duo recorded its latest LP with help from Wilco's Jeff Tweedy and Pat Sansone in the band's loft.
