FRIDAY, MAY 8

American Pie — takes place  at 6 p.m. at Florida Studio Theatre, 1241 North Palm Ave. $34 to $36.

Enjoy this performance celebrating American music’s response to the British Invasion.

Celebrate the music of artists such as Simon and Garfunkel and Bob Dylan, who paved the way for the next generation of musicians.


SATURDAY, MAY 9

BBQ, Brews and Brunch — takes place at noon at Darwin Brewing Co., 803 17th Ave. W., Bradenton. $10.

Support Darwin Brewing Co. brewer Mike Rogers, who is currently undergoing treatment for cancer, with a day of barbecue, beer and fun.

Festivities will include authentic Peruvian barbecue prepared by Chef Darwin Santa Maria, a cornhole tournament, lots of Florida brews and an opportunity to snag bottles and other cool items up for auction from supporting local brewers and breweries. All proceeds benefit Rogers. 


SUNDAY, MAY 10

Sarah Guthrie and Johnny Irion —  takes place at 7 p.m. at Fogartyville Community Media and Arts Center, 525 Kumquat Court. $12.

Sarah Lee Guthrie is the granddaughter of Woody Guthrie, and Johnny Irion is the grand nephew of author John Steinbeck.

Since marrying in 1999, Guthrie and Irion have released five albums together, including this year’s “Wassaic Way.” The duo recorded its latest LP with help from Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy and Pat Sansone in the band’s loft.
