About 30 fathers and their Robert Willis Elementary School students gathered this morning to discuss the importance of the connection between dads and kids—while munching on some donuts and winning raffle prizes.
Willis has organized monthly All Pro Dad breakfasts for two years; today was the final breakfast of this school year. Students told the audience why they thought their dads were "cool," and fathers and grandfathers stood up to tell everyone what made them most proud of their children.
"She's going to be somebody's CEO someday," Rob Robertson said about his first-grade daughter.
Chris Galvin attended the breakfast for the first time with his daughter, Ella, a third-grade student. Ella said she likes to go to the beach and go fishing with her dad.
"She's my fisherman. She'll stand out there all day with me," Galvin said.
Ricardo Diaz told the other dads and students that he was most proud of his daughter, Sofia, a third-grader, for starting to learn French with Rosetta Stone. Sofia said she wanted to learn because her dad speaks French.
Dads and students also filled out a card outlining their favorite memories with their dads and plans for the future. Boston Olivia Robertson, a first-grade student, said her best memory was going to a daddy-daughter dance with her father, Rob Robertson, and that he was cool because he wore ties.
