Local celebrity dog Aspen Murphy died May 11.

Born Dec. 25, 2001, Aspen, a white standard poodle, spent his life with the companionship of Reid and Susan Murphy.

“His greatest love was the water,” Susan Murphy said. “He loved riding on the back of the boat and enjoying the water and the dolphins.”

Aspen also enjoyed joining his owners on shopping trips and appointments around town.

“Wherever we went, he went,” Susan Murphy said. “We always had him with us. Everybody loved him.”

Aspen became the face of Reid Murphy’s real estate company, Developers Realty Co.

“He was known by everybody,” Reid Murphy said. “He want to all the establishments, and he sold real estate with me. People loved when he was with me.”

Aspen was known for his calm, intelligent demeanor and show-dog looks. His father was an international agility champion, and his mother was a Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show champion.

“People always came up and asked if they could photograph him,” Susan Murphy said. “He was just a beautiful, beautiful dog with a wonderful temperament. He was everybody’s friend. He was incredible.”
