Chaplain Carol Fields blessed the hands of Plymouth Harbor residents and staff Friday.

The Blessing of the Hands is an annual event held during Nursing Home Week.

“It’s the power of a blessing that will make their day so much better,” Director of Health Services Karen Novak said. “It’s important no matter what stage of life you’re in. The touch of somebody sometimes says so much.”

Approximately 30 individuals had their hands blessed, which is an ancient tradition that celebrates the work people do with their hands.

“Never become so high-tech (that) you become low touch,” Novak said. “I think that’s important here at Plymouth Harbor.”
