Longboat Key Vice Mayor Terry Gans celebrated his 46th wedding anniversary May 18 — at a commission workshop. But he gave his wife, Diane, a shout-out from the dais.

“Forty-six years ago today Diane Susan Meyers became Diane Susan Meyers Gans,” said Gans, who raised his soda can in the air. “I salute you and thank you.”

“Congratulations,” Commissioner Lynn Larson said. “I’m just sorry you had to spend most of your day with us.”
