I'm slowly coming to terms with the fact that my stomach might be bigger than my wallet. Although I'd love to try a different top-notch local restaurant every night of the week, for the sake of maintaining some semblance of financial responsibility, I'm often relegated to sandwiches, takeout or whatever sad meal I can piece together at home.

In fact, my main motivation for professional success is to one day have the wherewithal to eat whatever my heart desires.

Until then, I anxiously look forward to Savor Sarasota each year. For the uninitiated, Savor Sarasota is an annual two-week discounted showcase of some of Sarasota's finest culinary offerings — discounted being the operative word.

From June 1 through 14, more than 50 area restaurants will offer three-course lunch and dinner menus for $15 and $29, respectively.

So whether you're a foodie on a budget, a habitual restaurant-hopper or just looking to feel fancy, the next two weeks is prime time to explore one of Sarasota's other great resources: its high concentration of great restaurants.
