Riverview High 

Sellers scored both of Riverview’s touchdowns to help lead the visiting Rams to their third district win of the season. 

The Rams captain also came up big defensively late in the fourth quarter when he forced a fumble that allowed Riverview to ice with game with under two minutes to play. 

 

TOP PERFORMERS 

Sarasota quarterback Xakari Hawkins came on in the second half and led the host Sailors to touchdowns on its two final drives of the game. Hawkins connected with Isaac Edwards for a 26-yard touchdown and added a 2-point conversion pass to Deron Davis. 

On Sarasota’s next possession, Hawkins connected with Talik Keaton for a 20-yard score. Hawkins completed 9 of 16 passes for a little more than 180 yards. 

Booker running back Jamal Benson scored the Tornadoes final touchdown of the night on a 32-yard run. 

Booker quarterback Arthur Brantley completed 11 of 23 passes for 130 yards. He also scored on a 6-yard run. 

 

BY THE NUMBERS

1 — Sarasota area team that earned a berth in the playoffs this season after Cardinal Mooney finished as the Class 3A-District 5 district runner-up.

3 — Class 3A ranking of Clearwater Central Catholic, which forced four Cardinal Mooney turnovers in the first half and a running clock to start the second half.
