Animal neglect: Someone called the Sheriff’s Office to report that several pigs had been left on a foreclosed property with no food or water. The Sheriff’s Office deputy who investigated the report found two large potbelly pigs sitting on the front porch of the home, within a closed-in and fenced area, although the gate was unlocked. The deputy could clearly see a large pond 40 yards from the home, to which the pigs had access. The deputy could not be sure if the pigs had been left on the property or if they were mixed with feral hogs and wandered onto the property, so no animal neglect or abandonment was warranted as the pigs have access to water and land to root up food.

Grand theft auto: Someone stole a vehicle from the parking lot of Braden River Middle School. The thief was able to steal the vehicle because the doors were unlocked and the keys were left inside the vehicle. The vehicle was estimated at $15,000.

Possible assault: Two adult brothers were waiting in the parking lot of the elementary school to pick up their respective children. The two brothers were not on speaking terms because of a personal matter. The two started arguing, but denied any physical altercation took place to the responding Sheriff’s Office deputy.

Lakewood Ranch Boulevard
Loitering: An off-duty officer observed a male and female juvenile walking south on Lakewood Ranch Boulevard. The boy was shirtless. The boy looked toward the patrol car but the couple continued walking. The officer noticed that the juveniles disappeared into the bushes while he was looking away, so he went in search of them. Driving past some nearby landscaping, he saw the boy’s head pop up over some hedges. The officer stopped and asked them to come out of the bushes. They told him they were only “making out.” The officer contacted the parents, who came and picked up their kids.
