Siesta Key man arrested for drug trafficking

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office has charged a Siesta Key man with drug trafficking after the U.S. Postal Service discovered 27 pounds of marijuana in a package last week.

Sarasota County deputies discovered another 33 pounds of marijuana at the Avenida Veneccia apartment of 35-year-old Conrado Salas Jr. during a search warrant Friday, which also yielded 0.3 grams of MDMA, 132 grams of butane hash oil, 1 gram of a prescription amphetamine and $22,000 in cash. Officers also found 11 grams of cocaine, according to a news release.

Deputies have charged Salas with trafficking in marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of cocaine with intent to sell and possession of butane hash oil with intent to sell, among other charges. He is being held on a $40,000 bond, according to the release.
