In the courtyard of Southside Elementary School, friends and family gathered Wednesday afternoon to hear the voices of kindergarten students for a special Thanksgiving program.
Dressed in paper costumes made to represent the role players for the first Thanksgiving with pilgrim hats and Native American headdresses. Teachers Danielle Sobolewski and Ileana Manzano led the group in song dressed as a turkey and Native American for the occasion.
The children sang songs that celebrate the autumn season including the Southside school song "Hoorah for Southside"and "Have you ever seen a pumpkin?" Following the performance, students enjoyed slices of pies like pumpkin and pecan with family members to cap the celebration.
