Suncoast Sports Club seeks T-ball players
The Suncoast Sports Club is in need of additional T-ball players for its upcoming winter season.
Registration for the eight-week season, which begins Dec. 5 and runs through January, is now underway. Games will be held at Glebe Park on Siesta Key.
T-ball is open to all boys and girls ages 4 and 5 at a cost of $99. There’s also a $5 fee for those in need of a glove. The league also is accepting players for its coach pitch baseball teams for children ages 5 to 7, who have one year of T-ball experience.

Scullers go for gold at regatta
The Sarasota Scullers won five gold medals at the annual Head of the Giblet Regatta Nov. 21, at Turkey Lake in Orlando.
More than 100 Scullers rowers competed in the regatta in a variety of middle school, novice and varsity races. The regatta featured more than 35 club teams across 313 events.
First place Scullers boats include:
Men’s high school lightweight 2x
Men’s junior 1x
Women’s high school novice 8+
Men’s high school 4x
Men’s high school lightweight 4x
The Scullers also won nine silver medals and four bronze medals.
Booker coasts past Sarasota Christian
The Booker High girls basketball team improved to 2-2 with a 65-32 victory against Sarasota Christian Nov. 16.
Cellexia Foster scored 16 points and added four steals and three assists to lead the way for the Tornadoes.
Chellesy Foster added 11 points and three steals. Nia Gibbons contributed 10 points and four steals.
Riverview boys soccer blanks Sarasota
The Riverview High boys soccer team shutout rival Sarasota 3-0 in district action Nov. 19.
Junior Patrick Sklandanowski scored a pair of goals to lead the way for the Rams. Junior Adam Bates added a goal and a pair of assists. Senior Jorge Pena also was credited with an assist.
Riverview returns to action Dec. 1 versus Venice. Sarasota hosts Port Charlotte Dec. 2.
Sarasota girls basketball sails past Manatee
The Sarasota High girls basketball team cruised to a 66-22 victory versus Manatee in non-district action Nov. 17.
Senior DeQuandra Hill finished with 20 points and five rebounds. Ja’da Bennett added 15 points, three rebounds, four assists, nine steals and a block. Hailey Rosenhaus also finished in double figures with 10 points.
Sarasota boys basketball holds on for win
Senior Zack Rowden finished with 15 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks in the Sarasota High boys basketball team’s 59-55 victory versus Wauchula Hardee Nov. 20.
Dakota Cotner added 11 points, six assists and four steals. Kaleb Fields contributed nine points, three rebounds and a pair of steals. Darian Daniels added eight points and 10 rebounds.
