It's not everyday that you show up for work and your face is on the side of the building. But this week Growler's Pub bartender Cabe Unger experienced just such a moment when local artist and frequent collaborator Truman Adams was commissioned to paint the back of wall of the bar. The once drab rear of the local favorite bar has now been given a splash of color. And along with a rainbow collage, Adams has added portraits of Growler's Pub employees.
"Truman has been here ever since we've been open," says Unger. "This is the second major mural he's done for us. We decided we wanted to paint the back and we told Truman he could paint whatever he wanted. He comes in one day and says, 'I want to paint the staff.'"
Unger admits that it feels a little weird to have his face on the side of the building but is happy that the back is now just as colorful and appealing as it is inside.
