SEPT. 22

CAUGHT ON CAMERA
12:55 p.m. — 4400 block of GMD
Traffic: A woman whose driver’s license is revoked because she is a habitual traffic offender was caught driving by the town's license plate cameras.

MAN OF THE HOUSE
5:03 p.m. — 800 block of Longboat Club Road
Phone Call Harassment: A man told police he received 12 phone calls from a man who keeps calling and asking for the man of the house. The man of the house requested the caller to stop calling, but the calls keep coming. Police called the number and got a voicemail from the Republican College Party.

SEPT 25

BIRTHDAY SUITS
9:47 a.m. — 100 block of North Shore Road
Suspicious Person: A woman told police she was walking on the north end of Longboat Key’s beach when she observed a nude man walking on Beer Can Island. Police couldn’t find any naked beachgoers in the area.

SEPT. 26

JOGGING MISHAP
9:05 a.m. — 5700 block of GMD
Animal Rescue: A woman told police she was jogging north on the sidewalk when a dog jumped on her and knocked her off her feet.  The dog owner and the jogger confirmed the dog was on a leash at the time of the incident. Firefighter/paramedics treated a laceration on her left elbow and her husband gave her a ride home.

TRAILER TROUBLE
9:25 a.m. — 558 Bayview Drive
Traffic: A man complained about a landscaping trailer parked in front of his home. The landscaping crew agreed to move the trailer when the owner of the company returned with the truck.

DISTRESS DIVERTED
4:34 p.m. — Off the Key
Boat: Marine patrol received a distress call from a boater. When they arrived at the coordinates given, the boat was nowhere to be found. Police found it farther away, and the owner advised he was able to get the boat safely to shore.

QUITTIN' TIME
6:22 p.m. — 600 block of Triton Bend
Code Enforcement: A man reported loud construction noise and police found a construction crew of eight men working on a house after 5 p.m., which violates the town’s noise ordinance. The crew was issued a verbal warning and called it quits for the day.

SEPT. 27

BUMPER BOATS
5:44 a.m. — Linley Street Boat Ramp
Boat: A man’s sailboat got caught in a burst of wind and current that sent it crashing into another man’s boat anchored in the sandbar near Jewfish Key. There were no injuries, and all parties exchanged information and insurance policy information. Both vessels suffered minimal damage to the starboard area.

CYCLIST CRASH
7:35 a.m. — 6100 block of GMD
Rescue: A man told police he was riding his bike southbound on Gulf of Mexico Drive when he slowed down and his riding partner behind him braked hard to avoid hitting him and flew head first over his handlebars. Although the cyclist was wearing a helmet, he showed signs of a concussion and was transported to Blake Medical Center for treatment.

THE GREAT BATH ESCAPE
8:17 a.m. — 5300 block of GMD
Animal: A man told police he found a black Chihuahua on Gulf of Mexico Drive without any tags or collars. Police took the dog to the police station. Its owner showed up at the station within an hour to report the dog missing. The owner told police she was getting prepared to bathe the dog when it ran away.

HAUNTED HOUSE?
9:04 a.m. — 800 block of Penfield Street
Security Check: A neighbor called police when he saw lights on in a home he was housesitting. There were no signs of forced entry, and there was no one inside the home.

HEALTH CONCERN
9:36 a.m. — Intersection of GMD and Bay Isles Parkway
Rescue: A woman having a medical issue while riding her bicycle was transported to a hospital for further evaluation.

SEPT. 28

FALSE ALARM
7:09 p.m. — 600 block of Weston Pointe Court
Alarm: Police found the sliding glass door of a home unlocked after an alarm activation. The homeowner advised she left the sliding door unlocked after emptying her garbage. Police advised her to contact her security company and have the alarm censor on the door replaced.
