The Lakewood Ranch High boys golf team won its eighth-consecutive Manatee County Championship Oct. 10.
The Mustangs defeated runner-up Braden River by eight strokes to improve their record to 79-19. Freshman Drew Angelo shot 73 to finish second overall and freshman Hunter Logan shot 75 to finish fourth. Angelo and Logan were both named to the All-County Team.
Lakewood followed up its championship with a second-place finish at the Class 3A-District 14 championship Oct. 12.
Riverview finished three shots ahead of Lakewood to win the district crown. Logan shot 75 to lead the way for the Mustangs. Louie DelFabro added a 77 followed by Angelo (78), Billy Herten (80) and Mike Wijas (80).
As the district runner-up, the Mustangs qualified for the regional tournament for the fifth-consecutive season. Lakewood will now move on to the Class 3A-Region 5 championship Oct. 19, at Heritage Oaks, in Sarasota.
