Builders showcase Lakewood Ranch offerings

Prospective homeowners and design enthusiasts will have an opportunity to see the latest in home trends and design as Lakewood Ranch hosts its 18th annual Tour of Homes event.

This year’s tour, which features 32 models in nine communities, runs Oct. 16 through Nov. 22.

“We have two new neighborhoods coming on line this year,” said Rachel Gray, events, promotion and website coordinator for Lakewood Ranch developer Schroeder-Manatee Ranch. “Harmony is town homes. It’s the first time we’ve had attached product available for awhile, so it’s much different than other communities.”

Indigo, a new development by Neal Communities, also is making its Tour of Homes debut with two models.

One of Lakewood Ranch’s most expensive communities, The Lake Club, tops this year’s tour with nine models, marking an uptick in high-dollar home sales, Gray said.

In The Lake Club, home builder Murray Homes’ model features a more contemporary design.

“That’s a fun model to walk through,” Gray said. “Some of their design elements are coastal living, so that’s something very unique to them.”

Arthur Rutenberg Homes also has more contemporary designs in its Country Club East and The Lake Club models, based on consumer trends seeking more open space, hidden storage and less clutter, Gray said.

As part of the tour, SMR this year has launched a new mobile website so individuals can access information, including information about models and driving directions, from their phones or tablets while driving around.

In Lakewood Ranch, new home sales currently account for half of all home sales, Gray said.

From January through July, the most recent data available, 15,000 people visited Lakewood Ranch information centers and builder models, and there were 303 new home sales and 266 homes under some form of construction.
