7:32 p.m. — 2000 block of Harbourside Drive
Suspicious Circumstance: A woman who keeps an eye on a neighbor’s home noticed that a sliding glass door on the second floor was broken. Police said everything appeared in order inside and the home wasn’t burglarized.

WIRE REPORT
11:26 a.m. — 400 block of North Shore Road
Suspicious Circumstance: A woman told police she came close to wiring a man $500 to hold a rental property she wanted to rent on Longboat Key. When she searched the property records, she discovered his story didn’t add up and discontinued contact with the man.

11:40 a.m. — 3300 block of Bayou Gate
Suspicious Circumstance: A woman reported she received a pre-recorded call from the Internal Revenue Service explaining she needed to contact the department immediately in reference to taxes owed. The caller said the woman would be arrested that day if she didn’t call back immediately. The woman knew it was a scam and wanted to report it.

4:44 p.m. — 2800 block of GMD
Found Property: A man on Gulf of Mexico Drive flagged down a police officer to turn over a wallet he found while cleaning a ditch in his yard. Police left a message for the owner of the wallet.

5:33 p.m. — 2000 block of GMD
Property Damage: A man reported his pickup truck was hit by an errant golf ball, which chipped his windshield. Police found two golf balls near the truck that came from the direction of a nearby condominium.

9:31 p.m. — 6500 block of Bayou Hammock Road
Suspicious Circumstance: A woman told police she heard rattling coming from the door that leads to her pool area. Police found no signs of trespass and went through the house with the woman to make sure it was secure.

TURN IT OFF
10:58 p.m. — 600 block of Cedars Court
Public Service: Police discovered a condominium pool was overflowing because a hose attached to a town fire hydrant was running in the pool. The water hydrant was turned off.
HIT AND RUN
3:23 p.m. — 500 block of Bay Isles Parkway
Vandalism: A woman told police she found that someone hit her parked car while she was grocery shopping, causing $200 in damage. There were no witnesses and no note left on her car.

CAB CLEANUP
9:54 p.m. — Intersection of GMD and Bay Isles Parkway
Civil Disturbance: A taxi cab driver told police he picked up two intoxicated men at a St. Armands Circle restaurant who wanted a ride to Longboat Key. He pulled over when the men became verbally abusive and he then noticed one of them threw up all over the side of his cab. The cab driver got his $30 fare and police told him he would have to seek the $150 clean-up cost for his cab in civil court.

STORY DOESN’T HOLD WATER
8:08 a.m. — 2200 block of GMD
Trespassing: A condominium property manager reported that a man kept parking on the property without the proper permit. He told police he parks there and then goes fishing on the concrete groins located behind the condos. The fisherman told police he has permission from a condo owner to park there. His story didn’t hold up and he was told to park somewhere else.
HOME BREAKER
10:03 a.m. — 600 block of Cedar Street
Disturbance: A man going through a divorce told police he was worried his wife may damage his home before an appraisal on the home was going to be done later that day. She already destroyed the garden to the home before police arrived. Police kept the peace during the appraisal and the soon-to-be-ex-wife left.
OPEN HOUSE
10:16 p.m. — 3400 block of Winding Oaks Drive
Suspicious Circumstance: A neighbor reported that his neighbor moved out earlier in the day and the front door was wide open. Police found the home empty and secured the door.
