Students at Braden River Middle School danced in their stand against bullying this morning, as they joined teachers and administrators in the school’s courtyard for an impromptu dance session before class.

Around 9 a.m., they joined in on a modified version of “Uptown Funk,” which First Lady Michelle Obama used for her #GimmeFive campaign, part of her Let’s Move initiative that encourages a healthy, active lifestyle.

Staff performed a dance to the song at a pep rally at the beginning of the year.

During National Anti-bullying Week this week, students are learning about the impacts of bullying each day.

“We felt it was important for us to come together to take a stand against bullying,” Assistant Principal Kimberlain Zenon-Richardson said. “ We are a very diverse group of students and staff. We decided to focus on unity.”
