SOFTENING THE BLOW
Midnight — 1700 block of Bayview Road
Burglary: In the middle of the night, a woman heard a noise outside her front door, but she did not investigate. In the morning, when she walked outside, she noticed some of the cushions were missing from her porch furniture. An officer informed the woman of a similar recent incident in which cushions were taken and recovered. The officer checked the area where the previous cushions had been found, and located two of the woman’s cushions.

LAWN GONE
9:30 a.m. — 2800 block of Leon Avenue
Burglary: A man reported the theft of his mower. He said he had the mower on his covered front porch, with a chair on top of the equipment in an attempt to conceal its location. The man and his wife left their house, and when they returned, the mower was gone and the chair was on the side of the house. The man said the mower had no particularly distinguishing marks, and he was unsure of the brand. Officers were unable to obtain fingerprints from the cloth chair.

ISN’T IT IRONIC?
11:21 a.m. — 3100 block of North Tamiami Trail
Burglary: A woman reported that the security cameras monitoring a building had been taken. The woman, an employee at the business, said workers noticed the cameras outside of the building were gone when they arrived that day. The woman went to watch the building’s surveillance video, and noted that the cameras had been gone at 1:27 a.m., when the footage stopped. Another camera showed an unknown subject walking in front of the store. Officers took a piece of the camera’s housing to process for fingerprints.

SKIMPY ACCUSATION
5:50 p.m. — 2100 block of Mietaw Drive
Suspicion: A man reported that another man was sunbathing in his underwear at the park nearby. An officer made contact with the only person in the park, who was wearing shorts, a shirt and shoes. The person in the park was just relaxing on the bench, not sunbathing in his underwear, the officer observed. It began to rain, and the person left the park area. The man who complained said the person at the park had been sitting there all day, and he thought that was an unreasonable amount of time to be sitting there. The officer informed the man there is no time limit on sitting in the parks.
