What is a better reward than getting to sling wet sponges at your principal?
As a special treat, the 354 students at Braden River Elementary School who completed their summer learning packets got to take turns throwing the soaked sponges at Principal Hayley Rio and Assistant Principal Samantha Webb Friday morning. Last year, the school had 570 children enrolled, so more than half of the students successfully completed the optional summer learning program. They also received a t-shirt that goes with the elementary school's 2015-2016 year theme, Space: "Explore, Discover, Inspire."
"We thought they deserved to be rewarded," said Lisa Camuto, senior secretary at the school.
