Sophomore running back Josh Booker rushed for nearly 270 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Sarasota High football team to a 38-6 victory against Booker Sept. 4.
Booker made an immediate impact, scoring on a 68-yard run to give the Sailors a 6-0 lead with 9:32 remaining in the first quarter.
The Tornadoes responded when sophomore quarterback Arthur Brantley connected with Howard Smith for a 7 yard touchdown.
As rain began to pour down, Booker scored his second touchdown of the night on a 5-yard run. The Sailors recovered a muffed punt later in the first quarter, setting up Deron Davis' 1-yard touchdown run.
Booker added a 29-yard touchdown run to close out the first half, giving Sarasota a 25-6 lead. Booker added a 58-yard run in the third quarter for his fourth touchdown of the night.
Sarasota's defense held Tornadoes running back Jamal Benson to 55 yards on the ground. The Sailors also intercepted three of Brantley's passes and recovered a pair of fumbles.
Davis scored Sarasota's final touchdown on a 4-yard run.
Sarasota returns to action Sept. 11 versus Island Coast while Booker travels to Wauchula Hardee for its first district game of the season.
