+ Robert Cohen

Robert Cohen, 83, of Longboat Key and formerly of Boston, died March 30.

Born April 13, 1932 to Evelyn and Julian Cohen, in Boston, he was educated at the Roxbury Latin School, Harvard College and Columbia Business School.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957 and afterward ran Blackstone Mills, the family upholstery fabric manufacturing company. He moved to Longboat Key in 1996.

He is survived by his wife, Laurel; three nieces; and one grandniece.

 

+ Scott Palmer

Scott Douglas Palmer, 51, of Bradenton, died March 16.

Born in Detroit, he moved to Bradenton in 1983. He served as a golf pro in Longboat Key for 15 years and most recently worked at Bradenton Country Club.

He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.

He is survived by his two daughters, Hailey and Nickie, both of Sarasota, and his mother, Shirley Schuller, of Bradenton.

Services were held April 1.
