Pirates walk-off with rivalry win

The Braden River softball team beat Lakewood Ranch 7-6 April 5.

Braden River senior Kally Martin made the most of her final rivalry game versus Lakewood Ranch April 5. 

With the game tied 6-6 in the bottom of the seventh inning, Martin hit a bloop single to score Lexie Phelps from third base to propel the Pirates to a 7-6 come-from-behind victory. 

Trailing 6-5, Braden River junior Sarah Crawford hit a home run to tie the game. Phelps then drew a walk and eventually came around to score the game-winning run. 

Crawford went 3-for-3 at the plate with a double, a home run, a walk, a RBI and a run scored. Myah Moy went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a run scored. Martin went 2-for-4 with a double, a RBI and a run scored.  Zaire Yancy added a pair of hits and a RBI. 

Pitcher Ali Yawn went the distance, allowing two runs on six hits and three walks while striking out a pair.
